Abstract


There is a lack of locally oriented software that generates profiles in a specific format which local organisations required, so professionals like Engineers, Surveyors face various kind of troubles. As a solution this research study was conducted for designing sub software (ProfileCAD), which will automatically plot several types of profiles using specific formatted Road Survey Data. This study was mainly focused on generating three types of profiles, such as Cross Sections, Longitudinal Section and a profile which is combination of both also this profile could be used as a plan so it is named as �ProfilePlan�. ProfileCAD software contains set of programs which will allow user to input specific format data, after it will perform a data analysis then finally it will output a script file automatically. Then user has to run this script file in AutoCAD 2D/3D Environment. Cross Sections are usually plot using following data format �Chainage Offset Reduce-Level Remark�, this data can be collected using Auto level, but it is also possible to plot them using Cartesian coordinate data format �Point-No X Y Z Code�, this data can be collected by using Total Station. When designing program to plot Cross Sections using first data format is simple, but for second data format it is much complicated. Anyway lots of functions have to be used for second data format. Another important fact about this ProfileCAD software is, ability to convert from first data format to the other and vice versa, even internationally there are only very few number of software which has this ability. Longitudinal Sections are usually plot using following data format �Chainage Northing Easting Reduce-Level Remark�. International software to plot this ProfilePlan is also rare. When inputting data first Road Centre Line Coordinates have to be input in this format �Change X Y Z Code�, then the other coordinates have to be entered in this format as �Chainage Offset Reduce-Level Remark�. Then the program will convert �Chainage Offset Reduce-Level Remark� data into Cartesian coordinate format, later program will automatically prepare a script file which containing instructions to plot ProfilePlan in AutoCAD environment. Finally using this Software product, the professionalism of people who are involved in the fields of Engineering and surveying can be improved.

Highlights


Dye sensitized solar cells made of SrTiO3/SnO2 attribute improved photovoltaic parameters compared to bare SnO2 electrodes. ► Wider charge separation through minibands of SrTiO3/SnO2 structure better suppress recombination channels. ► The shifting up of the CB edge of SnO2 in the composite film to a higher level improves the photovoltage of the cells.

Abstract


In this paper, the performance of nano-porous electrodes made of a composite material of SrTiO3 and SnO2 are compared with those made of bare SnO2. When these particular devices are analyzed in a comparative mode the results confirmed the enhancement of photovoltaic parameters in the former device. The performance of respective cells were examined by several methods including I−V characteristic measurements, photocurrent action spectra, dark I−V measurements, Mott−Schottky measurements and X-ray diffraction measurements. Even though such improvements in this particular cell could be explicated by the formation of a potential energy barrier of SrTiO3 particles of comparably large width at the SrTiO3/SnO2 interface, the passivation of voids in the SnO2 film by SrTiO3 particles to a certain extent could not be totally ruled out. Besides, high energetic electrons injected by dye molecules move more credibly through mini-bands formed in the chain of nano-crystalline SnO2 particles to the back contact. The blocking of the recombination path and the shifting up of the uppermost electron occupied level of SnO2 accompanying the conduction band edge in the SrTiO3/SnO2 composite film, may have lead to the observed enhancement of the fill factor and photovoltage, respectively.

Abstract


The length of coconut fibre is the main key factor considered for export market. Naturally fibres exits as cross and curve fibres which creates difficulties in taking length measurements. Further, existing methods consume more time. The main objective of this study is to develop an automatic system, which is capable of estimating the length of coconut fibre efficiently and accurately. The system is developed based on image processing techniques. Image taken from a webcam is processed first, and then the processed image is scanned pixel by pixel from the starting point to the end point of fibre. Scanned pixels are stored in an array. The procedure is repeatedly applied for all fibres in the image. Finally the average fibre length is computed through the system and in the testing process, these values were compared with real lengths. The system was tested with single fibres, multiple fibres, and multiple fibres cross one another. Test result indicated that the system functions effectively and reliably.

Abstract


Sound waves propagate in all direction through air and materials due to diffraction effect. Interference of sound signals generated by several devices could create a noisy state which is harmful for the human being at certain instances in which noise intensity level is beyond 90 dB. The system discussed in this research, facilitates to find noise intensity levels at different places simultaneously and further it identifies and point out the places where the noisy state is harmful for human being. Corresponding calculation by the system is mainly done based on the direct source and reflection effects for the selected area. As the first step, requirements are analyzed. In the designing state as next, the programs are written to implement identified requirements. The visual basic is utilized to implement relevant programs because of its user friendly facility. Then the testing is carried out for each sub program and finally for the entire system. In general, the noise intensity level is estimated in the absent of the sound generated instruments. Noise transition calculation formulas have been used to find noise intensity levels at relevant places within the selected area.
